Laken ISO 40: Good for Hot or Cold

We're SIGG enthusiasts, but we only use our bottle for cold water -- we haul a second reusable mug around for our hot coffee needs.

What if you wanted something that worked for both hot and cold drinks? OK, SIGG makes a hot and cold bottle also. But, everybody is carrying a SIGG these days, and you want to be different ...

You could try a Laken ISO 40 ($24). We saw one for the first time yesterday at our local green drugstore. It's sort of squat in a nice way and comes in a wide array of colors.

We really like the looks of it because it has a super wide-mouth which would make it easy to clean. And, of course, it works for both hot and cold drinks. We've read that it doesn't keep drinks hot or cold as long as a thermos, but what it lacks in insulating qualities, it makes up for in weight -- it weighs only 7.9 ounces. It's constructed with aluminum and has a food-safe, non-leaching interior liner.

They're not cheap, but we think these would make a nice gift for that really outdoorsy sister-in-law, or maybe a wannabe outdoorsy uncle.
