There won't be much moving or rearranging happening in our kitchen this year. We're updating on a tight budget, so we're not replacing the cabinets or splurging on new appliances. We'll be painting the lower cabinets (we painted the uppers white during last year's Style Cure), switching out the dated laminate countertops for butcher block, adding a wood plank backsplash, and installing an inexpensive apron-front farmhouse style sink from good ol' IKEA.
I'd also like to add some color with a rug. I decided rather than going the digital route which can be challenging with a kitchen, I'd just quickly sketch it out. It's certainly not to scale and is a bit wonky, but it gives me a visual idea of what things might look like when we're finished.
Now we just have to decide on a lower cabinet color. I was originally planning on sticking with white, but my husband likes the idea of two-toned cabinets, so we're looking at medium or dark grays and muted blue-greens for the lower cabinets, and we're completely open to opinions — which would you choose?
