Apparently broom-style ambient lighting was sweeping the world of home decor on the floor of ICFF this year. The LED "Mood Broom" Lamp by Peteris ZIlbers Design seem like an easy IKEA hack in the making; a set of LED DIODER string lights glue gunned onto the back of a painted shop broom, and you've pretty much got the same effect at likely a fraction of the price. Could look great as ambient lighting in a loft or garage space...
The Moodbroom lamp plays with function shift in everyday objects, and engages users in a game that alters perception of a common item. Remote controlled digital LED light technology turns what appears to be a broom into a fully functioning lamp. The remote control allows users to switch their color choice from white through a full palette of color choices that can complement their changing moods. The LED light can be set to steady or rotating through the full palette.
You can get the same remote/color rotation feature using a Arduino microcontroller, if you're truly skilled in the art of geekery.
