LEGO’s ‘Home Alone’ House Is Back, Complete With Kevin’s Wet Bandit Traps
“Home Alone” fans have watched Kevin McCallister defend his home from the Wet Bandits numerous times. Now, thanks to LEGO, you can help him defend it too.
LEGO has brought back their Home Alone set, which features a replica of the McCallister residence from the classic 1990 film. It includes 3,955 pieces — making it the largest structure for a LEGO Ideas concept — and comes complete with the ground floor and the second floor, the kitchen, basement, and attic. There are five minifigures too: Kevin, Harry, Marv, Kate, and old man Marley.
“Just like every 90s kid, I grew up watching Home Alone and it takes a very special place in my heart,” said Alex Storozhuk, who submitted the design to LEGO Ideas. “I can’t even imagine holidays without it. This movie is very nostalgic and makes those warm childhood memories come up every time.”
The set opens like a dollhouse, revealing different moments and props from the movie. For instance, there’s the after-shave cream from the bathroom scene, Buzz’s pet tarantula, Harry and Marv’s plumbing van, and the tree with the zip-line.
As for the booby traps, you can have Kevin slide down the stairs on his sled, drop a clothes iron on Marv’s face, swing paint cans, and light up the basement furnace. You can even spin the train set and turntable to make it appear as though other people are at home, just like what Kevin did in the film.
“Following the themes of the film, we wanted to make the experience as immersive as possible for fans of LEGO building and the movie,” said LEGO designer Antica Bracanov. “The step-by-step build which mirrors the movie, and the ability to open up the set and see inside lends itself well to hours of joyful focus this holiday season — just add a festive backdrop and a certain Christmas movie!”
LEGO’s Home Alone set is available for $299.99 on their official website.
