Lena & Eve's Happy Tight Fit

Lena & Eve's Happy Tight Fit

Name: Lena (5) & Eve (2.5)
Location: Culver City, Los Angeles, California

When we first moved into our little 710 square foot duplex unit, we were not thinking about children at all. The second bedroom was so small that we originally used it as an office, but it transitioned to a nursery alright when Lena came along.

When Eve was born we managed to squeeze her in, too, but when it came time to transition the girls into bigger beds we really weren't sure the space would work at all. Fortunately, after nearly a decade of small space living, we're getting better and better at maximizing what we have.

Because our space is small I like to try to keep the rooms as calm and uncluttered as possible - not easy with two little kids in the house. My style choices then tend to be calm, clean, durable, comfortable, personal. We originally chose the pale green paint and the green and blue rug as gender neutral options in case our future second child turned out to be a boy.

The crib used to be against the wall with the large fairy branch decal, a design choice we made because we worried about hanging anything over a crib in earthquake-prone Southern California. The girls still love the decals, though, so they stayed as well. It all seems like a tight fit in there, but it works, and so far we're pretty happy with it.
