While the three-story house has gorgeous details, like a balcony (which Lois says is a rarity in the U.K.), verdant trees outside, and being a quick walk away from town, it was much different than their previous home. The family moved from “a small, much older property steeped in character,” (which Apartment Therapy actually toured) to a newer space, in which Lois used the words “clinical, white walls, and gray carpets” to describe the original home. But even though the house’s bones are new, it’s situated on a historic site.

“Our home is a new build on a development that was previously the site of a prestigious private boys’ school,” Lois explains. “The area is steeped in local history and includes an iconic landmark — the King’s Gate. We loved how the development incorporated the history of the site with the modern eco-design of the houses.”

But moving into a home that might not initially have had the character Lois was used to proved to be an exciting design challenge. “This has meant moving away from colors and patterns we are familiar with and leaning toward more modern colors and decorating techniques. It’s been a big learning curve,” she admits.

Since buying the house eight months ago, it’s fair to say that Lois has made her mark on the space. Each room is dotted with vibrant colors and, of course, leopard print (the pattern dedicated to her social media namesake) throughout.
