I am an interior designer specialising in little ones' rooms, based in Australia. Leo is my third little boy and I knew even before I was pregnant that I wanted to create a room that was soft and calming but also masculine.
I also knew what I didn't want. I had already done traditional blue, white and red in my older two sons' rooms and also monochrome in their big boy room. I also didn't want to do what my clients were asking for.....as using your own house as design practice is a great opportunity to show clients something different!
There is not one feature I don't love about Leo's nursery. While the Nursery Works Empire rocker is easy enough to get in the USA, it's not available in Australia. Lucky for me, I was working on a client's design (who also wanted the rocker) and was able to work with a great company to bring a few into Australia!
Adding leather, cooper and timber elements to the room, bring an otherwise simple space to life. I did an easy DIY on the IKEA Hemnes dresser handles and also painted the shelf brackets copper as well.
It was important to include elements that were important to my family as well. The timber toy box, was from my husbands family farm (and I painted on the details) as well as the side table.
It's such a beautiful and serene space.....I just love it!
