I know, I know, I just can’t stop talking about ICFF — the truth is, there was just SO much to see at the show and I’m still processing it all. One new booth in particular keeps coming to mind: the Australian home decor brand Les Basic. They launched at ICFF this April and are already making waves in the millennial market. All of their products have a subtle and simple design, and truly embody the attitude “less is more.” They sent a few of my favorites all the way from Australia and I’m excited to share a peek at this functional (but oh-so-playful) collection with you today.

The Backstory

Les Basic’s chief designer Alexander Lotersztain moved to Australia from Argentina at age 18. He was looking for adventure — but also wanted to finish his arts degree. After traveling for another 6 years, he moved to Brisbane and began designing. Les Basic (pronounced less basic) is his newest venture and attempt to tap into the millennial lifestyle market. His collection features furniture, lighting, and accessories with understated elegance and functionality in mind, but incorporates the softness and pastel that everyone is loving right now. And while parts of the collection do incorporate the technology that every brand seems to feature at the moment, it’s clear that Lotersztain’s main focus is craftsmanship and functionality.

Sfera

The Sfera collection is described as a “collection of tilted vessels” — it’s an accurate title for a bowl with endless uses. Available in multiple sizes and colors, my favorite is the XL. It has a hidden, rotating base that makes the piece look like a spinning optical illusion.

The simplicity of Les Basic’s Login truly embodies the functional and simplistic design aesthetic of the brand. With a magnetized top (and a circular magnet sticker that goes on your phone), this minimalist table accessory doubles the function of your device, transforming it into a table lamp (with the High versions) or alarm clock (with the Low version) on your bedside table. How’s that for eliminating clutter?

Valet

I saved the best for last — this is the piece that truly caught my eye at ICFF. Named for its ability to be fully at your service, the Valet can be used as a bedside table, a bar cart, a home office, or even a single dinner table. Each one is made to order and is sure to be a conversation piece in your home, no matter how you plan to use it. I don’t want to give too much away in the photo, so you’ll have to watch the video below to see it in action!
