Do you know what one of the most forgotten spots in the home to clean is? Your doors, door knobs and light switch covers! Which is kind of silly, considering how often we touch them. Let’s band together and tackle this Apartment Therapy Weekend Project — our homes will be better for it!

Weekend Project: Quickly clean your doors and light switch covers

All you need to complete this small task: the cleaning supplies of your choice, from wipes to a spray and a cloth or paper towels. Start with your bedroom and bathroom interior doors first; they tend to be the dirtiest. Dry wipe them to dust them off. Then clean the door knob well. Then decide how best to tackle cleaning your door, based on the finish and material. It’s best to start with a gentle cleaner and test an area first to make sure it doesn’t react poorly with the door’s finish.

Lastly, take a swipe at your light switch covers in the room. Then move on to the next room! Don’t forget to clean your exterior doors and knobs. Feeling ambitious? Clean the cabinet doors in your kitchen and bathroom, too. They also get touched a lot!

Shifrah Combiths will be tackling this weekend project alongside everyone. So grab the cleaners of your choice (or DIY your own, first!), find a little time this weekend, and let’s all get this done together!
