We're always envious that the European market for many products offers a wider selection of colours compared to the domestic market here. It's no surprise that the colour-loving Italian market would be targeted by LG with these slim Starburst-candy-meets-LCD-displays, the W30S series.
The "30" in the LG W30S's name unfortunately does not actually refer to screen size as we first believed at quick glance. No, these screens are actually 30% slimmer in size than typical monitors, thus the numerical designation. The 19" size seems a bit small at first (a larger 22" model is also being released), but then again, these were specifically designed as sidekicks for a laptop; LG Color Pop has a picture frame shaped stand so it can be placed at the same height as a laptop for a dual monitor configuration. We wonder how good these would look next to a non-colourful laptop.
Available in several colors, the two models to be released are the W1930S (1366 x 768 pixels) and the W2230 (1920 x 1080 pixels), each with 5ms response time, brightness up to 250 cd / m² and a dynamic contrast ratio of 30,000: 1. Neither model offers DVI or HDMI, so this is just a VGA connection affair. No word on availability or pricing for here in the US yet.
