Lidl Is Bringing Back Its Popular $20 Dutch Oven—Here’s How to Get It
An enameled cast iron pot, or Dutch oven, is a kitchen workhorse — you can use one to make soup, stews, braises, casseroles, roasted chicken, and so much more — plus they look so cute and stylish, like our early dreams of our first kitchen come to life. Le Creuset Dutch ovens are pretty much wedding registry standard, but at $150 and up, they’re not exactly accessible for every home cook. There are plenty of more affordable alternatives, but we’re pretty shocked to hear that one of them costs only $19.99, for a limited time.
Beginning October 12, for just two days, Lidl grocery stores in the U.S. (which are only on the East Coast for now) will be selling an oven-proof cast iron roasting pot for just under $20. For about the price of three rotisserie chickens, you could keep yourself in homemade roast chicken for years.
Last fall, Lidl offered this same deal, and it was popular enough that, according to the grocery store, one pot sold every 30 seconds throughout the two-day sale. This year’s roasting pot comes in a classic burnt orange ombré color. Here’s what else Lidl has to say about it:
“Built to last, the beloved kitchen staple retains and distributes heat evenly, and can be used on ceramic, electric, gas, outdoor grill and oven cooking environments. Ideal for a bubbling stew, hearty soup and light soufflé…”
Lidl is a European chain, founded in Germany in 1973, that first came to the U.S. in 2017. It focuses on high quality, low prices, and efficiency, and it partners with local farms to create products with its own private label, similar to the Trader Joe’s model. Beyond food, it carries home goods—especially but not only for the kitchen—that rotate twice per week. To find the store nearest you, visit Lidl.com.
