Anglophiles and hate-watchers alike came out in droves on Sunday evening to catch "Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance." The Lifetime movie version of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's romance managed to somewhat accurately depict a good (time-condensed) chunk of the couple's story, all the way from their first blind date (in which Harry showed up late) up to Harry's proposal over engagement chicken.
There were certainly some inaccuracies added into the film to make things more dramatic (it is Lifetime, after all). Take for instance, William and Kate's originally snooty criticism of Meghan, or Harry threatening to tweet out an angry statement in response to the constant paparazzi attention. But the schmaltz-heavy film largely gave viewers what they wanted… and they certainly had a thing or two to say about it. Here are some of the best Twitter responses to "Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance."
When the duo first met on a blind date, many a fan said they never would have put up with Harry's 40-minute late arrival.
One frequent response was Lifetime's rough depiction of Prince William.
Kate and William weren't exactly depicted as all that warm and friendly in the film either:
Is anyone else completely bothered that they are doing William and Kate like that? They're making Kate seem awful and robotic and making it seem like they have a strained marriage. #ARoyalRomance— The Petty Mess (@ThePettyMess_) May 14, 2018
But overwhelmingly, Twitter seemed to approve of the film, lauding it for touching on some of the more serious moments in Meghan and Harry's relationship, like the racism Meghan faced.
And of course, Twitter was particularly pleased when the famous roast chicken popped up.
Clearly, Lifetime was pretty pleased with itself too.
