LightForm Debuts LED Lighting that Can be Cut to Size

Colorful LED lighting can create amazing effects behind computer monitors, televisions, and furniture. Often times we've turned to the Ikea Dioder LED strips for the effect, but a new company has created LED strips that can be cut to size for your custom DIY project.

The LightForm by Grote, is a 1-millimeter thin film with small, colorful, LEDs built-in. The film can be cut at any point without affecting circuitry and can also be bent around sharp corners. According to the manufacturer it's durable enough to live through multiple hammer hits, so you don't have to worry about lights shattering if you push your flatscreen too far back and hit the lights.

While Grote markets the stuff to be used in cars, we think this could be a fun addition to a home theater, office, kitchen, bookshelf, you name it. The stuff can even be sewn into fabrics! We're just thinking about all the possibilities and getting giddy about it. The strips come with double sided adhesive so you just peel and stick.

The one thing we're not entirely clear on is how this stuff gets plugged in. If it's made for cars, we're thinking it doesn't have a standard outlet plug, but we wonder if that could be customized...
