Living Room Style: One Rug, Two Looks

What I love most about home decor is seeing the different ways that people express their style. Like fashion, there are so many ways to wear one piece of clothing and each look is totally different depending on what you pair it with. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing and pick one rug and use it in two very different looks. See how I took this extremely bold and colorful rug and used it in both a bohemian and glam look.

I’m not sure how you felt when you saw this rug but my very first instinct was to go bohemian, but that’s also a personal style favorite so I may have been a bit biased. The bold colors and patterns in the rug look amazing with some rich and warm leather tones and wood textures. The pink chairs, although a statement, don’t fight with the rug because of the color. The blue accents in the pattern are highlighted by the lamps and wall hanging. Add some hanging plants for an extra touch of boho.

Now who says you can’t use the exact same rug and get a very different, very glam look? Like the other look, the rug is the star and everything else is kept very simple. This look uses plenty of gold accents, a very neutral cream sofa, rich marble and black and white photography to balance out the busy pattern in the rug. The two accent chairs perfectly bring out the navy in the rug while adding luxe to the look.
