LLOVE Pop-up Hotel in Tokyo

This week I visited a pop-up of a different kind — an installation based on the Japanese love hotel concept. LLOVE was created by Suzanne Oxenaar, Artistic Director of the LLOYD HOTEL and Cultural Embassy in Amsterdam. The opening coincided with Design Tide, which meant an interesting means of accommodation for the creative folk in town.

I love the idea that you could ‘check into’ an installation for a night (or three!) and feel part of an artistic and cultural experiment. The project is in celebration of a 400 year old trade and cultural relationship between Japan and the Netherlands and the rooms were created by Dutch and Japanese designers.

The hotel is situated in the trendy Daikanyama and it is open until November 23, 2010. Rooms start at a very reasonable $100/night (this is Tokyo!). For more information visit LLOVE.
