Locally-Grown Turkey Directory for Thanksgiving

The helpful staff at FACT (Food Animal Concerns Trust) recommended the Eat Wild website and national directory to help us find local, organic turkeys this Thanksgiving. Eat Wild currently features a link to local farms selling pasture-raised turkeys. Simply click on the "Order from a local farmer" tab (actually, it says "Don't be a turkey - Order one NOW from a local farmer!") and then click on your state using their interactive map. Pow! Local farms in less than 30 seconds.

As Lisa from FACT explained, "Along with having knowledge about all that's wrong with the food industry, it's important to support the farmers who are doing it right." And what better way celebrate Thanksgiving than by celebrating the sustainable farms in our local communities?

Oh, and for any vegetarians (of which I have many in my own life), local farms often sell varieties of seasonal produce to cook up veggie-based alternatives to Turkey, or which can be served alongside a 100% soy-fed Tofurkey.
