Name(s): Hayden (6) & Logan (2)
Location: North Carolina
Division: Shared Room
Room Size: 80 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: Utilize the wall space, closet, and do your best to minimize the amount of toys and clutter in the bedroom. We don't even use a dresser in the boys' room. Instead, we have stackable storage drawers in the closet.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: This room is the smallest room in our home (that is, with the exception of the bathroom), so the biggest challenge was to NOT clutter it up with decor. At one point we had their artwork covering an entire wall and though we love their beautiful artwork, the walls felt incredibly confined! So, really, just filtering out things we liked from the things we loved and maintaining a breathable atmosphere was definitely the biggest challenge.
Favorite Thing About This Room: I love all of the little touches of music we added throughout. My husband is a drummer, and the boys are following in his foot steps for sure. I love the drumstick mobile hanging from the ceiling, and the xylophone we mounted onto the wall. They even have a real snare drum in there. Needless to say, it can be a noisy choice of decor, but we love it.
Thanks for your entry Alexandra and good luck!
