Logan's Room

Name: Logan (18 months)
Location: San Francisco, CA

Color Inspiration: The inspiration was black shadows on bright colors. Using a flat black paint can make the object's (toy shelf and dresser) shapes more pronounced. When Logan was very small I felt it was a good way to observe his surroundings with his more limited eye sight. Now that he is a little older the durability of a high quality black paint is really paying off. The use of apple green and teal blue I feel are very gender neutral colors. Also are calming and fun.

Tip for Using Color: My tip for using color is to remember the color chips are very small. Either gets lots of paint chips and tape them together or do a mock-up (the best). Almost always the color seems brighter than you may hope. Look at the surrounding finishes. The cherry floor could make your white wall look pink. the opposite color will be pulled out.

Colors Used: I used Benjamin Moore Aura Spa for this room. I like that you can get a matte finish that is still scrub-able. Also, we use a humidifier when he is not feeling well. This leave a lot of condensation that the Aura Spa is great for.

Thanks for your colorful entry Jeni and good luck!
