Beating out over a thousand other entries, Mill Valley's Catherine Golden was the winner of Domino magazine's first-ever decorating contest. The announcement ran in the February issue's "Letter from the Editor," which just hit the newsstands this week. While the contest only covered one room (the sitting area of her master bedroom is shown above), we were lucky enough to get a peek at the rest of Catherine's home:
In her entryway, Catherine painted, lime-washed and stenciled the trellis pattern.
The entryway walls took her a couple of weekends to complete.
She removed several shelves to create a desk niche. The pink behind the desk took four layers to achieve. "The thing I love most is working with color," she said. The top of the desk will be covered with white vinyl, to give it the look of leather.
In the sitting room, Catherine painted and tiled the fireplace. It is another work in progress, as she's currently contemplating a different tile job.
Thanks, Catherine! And congratulations!
