Junk Mail

Junk Mail. We all get it. We all hate it. Here are just a few ways to stop it from taking over your mailbox (if you have more tips, let us know):

• Write to the Direct Marketing Association: Mail Preference Service, PO Box 643, Carmel, NY 10512
• Or register online ($5 fee)
• Call the Equifax / Trans Union / Novus / Experian credit bureaus at 888.567.8688 and tell them you don’t want unsolicited credit offers
• Call the phone number on any catalogs and tell them you want to be taken off their list — or write a letter stating that you want your name removed, and include the catalog address label

• When you buy online or from catalogs, tell the company not to sell your name or send you promotional material
• When you subscribe to magazines, tell them not to sell your name (we noticed a huge increase in junk mail after we started subscribing rather than buying from newsstands)
