Lyn Swan Handmade Ceramics

While at the de Young Museum Store last weekend, Lyn Swan's gloriously colorful ceramics jumped out at me from across the room. They're at once retro and modern, fanciful and functional. Her pieces are mostly hand built using porcelain. Each piece has its own personality and the fun textures are reminiscent of vintage textiles.

The contrasting colors on the interior of the pieces add a surprising punch. From festive trays to whimsical sugar and creamer sets and playful salt and pepper vessels.

If you live in the Bay Area, you can purchase Lyn Swan's work at the de Young Museum Store, or you can buy from one of her two Etsy stores: clayswan, which is dedicated to her candy-colored work pictured above and lynswan, which has quieter, more organic pieces.

Well-priced, one of her trays or a set of porcelain star ornaments could make for a memorable holiday hostess gift.
