I’m a big proponent of personalized holiday presents, whether it’s a gift card to my dad’s favorite restaurant or an ornament that reminds me of my best friend’s recent painting hobby. Which, speaking of, if you’re also searching for something sentimental to give the folks on your list this year, start by tapping into their interests. Are they foodies? Plant parents? Self-care aficionados?

Whatever they’re into, Macy’s is actually a hidden gem for some of the most fun, unique kits that cater to a handful of hobbies … including new ones that anyone can pick up. In case you didn’t know, on top of their regular holiday selections, the department store also has a section called STORY that’s dedicated to cool, quirky, out-of-the-box picks. Here, you’ll find anything from garnish-growing kits (hello, apartment dwellers!) to a cake-making kit to workplace survival kits (whether remote or IRL). Plus, they can use (or re-use) all of these presents well after the holidays — because the best gifts are the ones that keep on givin’. Check out some of my favorite Macy’s holiday kits below (some of which are on sale for Black Friday!), plus take a look at their STORY shop for more amazing gift inspo.
