I Just Discovered a Store That Has Anthropologie Style on an IKEA Budget
When it comes to places to shop for home decor, I pretty much know all the major brands and options stateside—both brick and mortar and online. That’s what a decade of working in design will do for you. So on a trip to Miami earlier this month, I was legitimately surprised to see a home store I had never really heard of before, Maisons Du Monde, in a mall right beside mainstays like Restoration Hardware. I obviously had to go inside, and what I saw could best be described as a mix between classic IKEA Stockholm and Target’s Opalhouse with a side of Anthropologie for good measure. Pricing was pretty reasonable across the board, with some real bargains in the textiles, tabletop, and art department.
Anyone who lives in Europe is probably familiar with this French chain, but it’s only been stateside for a little over a year. It’s a very Florida-centric store at the moment, with the only other brick and mortar location also in the Miami area, but luckily their items are also online. I didn’t buy anything because I had no room in my luggage, but here’s what I’m having serious regrets about—and am considering ordering.
Verdy Golden Metal 3-Hook Coat Rack
This sculptural hook rail almost looks like a piece of modernist art. I generally hate making unnecessary holes in my rental walls, but this would definitely up my entryway’s hook game, so I’m tempted.
Buy: Verdy Golden Metal 3-Hook Coat Rack, $59.90
Marla Graphic Print Artwork
I love that this inexpensive piece has a bit of dimension and relief. You’re not looking at ink on paper—those are woodcut abstract shapes on a wooden background. It’d be a nice touch in a gallery wall.
Buy: Marla Graphic Print Artwork 22×32, $20.90
Andy Rug with Blue Geometric Motifs
Any area rug that looks like a tessellation of sorts is a winner in my book. The tonal blue color palette would be dreamy in a bedroom, but I could see it working in a living room as well, as seen here.
Buy: Andy Rug with Blue Geometric Motifs, $349.00
Artificial Plant in Hanging Glass Pot
I’ve got a bit of a black thumb, so I’m team faux greens all the way. For less than $10, this little fake plant baby would be a great way to fill an empty corner in a powder room.
Buy: Green Artificial Plant in Hanging Glass Pot, $8.90
Imaan Multicoloured Cotton Berber Cushion
This textured pillow brings home boho style on a budget, since it comes with both a cover and cushion insert. A pair would be lovely sitting on a grey or black sofa.
Buy: Multicoloured Cotton Berber Cushion with Pom Poms, $43.90
Anui Metal and Fir Side Table
Two-for-one decor pieces are just the best. You can stash your drink on this side table—and all of your reading materials, remotes, and such underneath it.
Buy: Anui Metal and Fir Side Table with Basket, $99.90
Vintage-Style Metal Globe
As a globe collector, I can honestly say I don’t have a rose gold one in my possession. This one is pretty easy on the wallet and will add a touch of warmth and shine to a room or vignette.
Buy: Vintage-Style Metal Globe, $35.90
