Make a Polished and Modern Concrete Desk

It looks like this workspace is still waiting to be all wired up from the photo above, but the potential of this modern poured concrete desktop is obvious—and it's all DIY!

Over at Instructables, user hivoltage has crafted this modern-meets-tradtional desk all on their own! Poured concrete, embedded with glass pieces and fiberoptic cables, forms the top.

It's a big project to take on, but the result of pouring your own desktop is worth it. With a few foam-wrapped PVC pipes, you can place wire-management holes anywhere in the desk you need them. Plus, if you take a cue from the project's creator, you can add cool stuff like fiber-optic lit glass pieces! How's that for custom?!

If you feel like taking the probably messy plunge, head over to Instructables and follow the directions. If you prefer a cleaner (and probably easier) DIY desk, check out "A DIY Sleek Desk that Hides All Your Goodies" or "DIY: Multimedia Desk, Built From 'Scratch'."
