Make A Tape Dispenser From Household Items

We have a ridiculous amount of tape in our home. Although it's all in the same place, it doesn't ever seem to be easy to get to or use. When we saw this DIY tape dispenser we loved the idea and immediately had a few ideas on how to make it hold more than just masking tape, details after the jump!

Even though we have strapping tape dispenser, it's locked up in our storage unit, but we hit the post office mailing packages quite often and so we end up using a smaller roll of packing and strapping tape because it's easier to wrangle.

If we used the set up pictured above, we would be able to reuse the metal strip from our aluminum foil, plastic wrap or parchment paper boxes (when we've used it up) and attach it to the front edge. By having a sharp tearing spot, it would allow us to use tapes that are a bit trickier to cut. It would be nice to have all of our adhesives in the same place and so easy to use.

There's a full tutorial up at Instructables to show you how to make your own and it's a great way to keep things organized in your craft space instead of digging through drawers and bins to find what you need! To keep it anchored to your desk, you can always put a few bags of dried beans inside to weigh things down. The same set up would work great for ribbon and other trims and strip ahdesives.
