The internet is full of fascinating things. While doing a little research for my roundup of modern nativity scenes, I came across this nativity scene made of LEGO and just had to share it with you.

Leo, a member of the science faculty at the University of Amsterdam, created these figures back in 2000. Every player in the nativity scene — the holy family, the wise men, shepherds, camels, barn animals, and even tiny sheep — is rendered in incredible detail using everyone’s favorite building toy. If you’re ambitious enough to try to build all of them, there’s even a parts list detailing all the LEGO pieces you’ll need.

To see all of the figures, and detailed diagrams for creating each one, visit the project page on the University of Amsterdam’s website. (And to see all the figures assembled with real-life LEGO pieces, check out BenLego’s flickr account here.) Happy building!
