Marc Venot Roller Shades Light

Our apartment is a light-filled studio whose view and sunshine make it easy to stay indoors even on the best of days. BUT, there are some occasions for the sake of heat, privacy or the desire to strike up the overhead DLP projector for an afternoon movie that we need to use the various light blocking roller shades*. We love the ease and hide away looks of our roller shades, but now are envious of this idea for integrating a lighting system into the pulldown function as designed by Marc Venot...

Marc Venot's Store roller shade lamp integrate a 20 watt fluorescent tube that turns on and off with a pull of the shade. We're not sure, but this concept would be even better if the strength of the light was dictated by how much was pulled down. We're wondering how we can DIY this ourselves for our home office.

*Wanted to note that we love the quality and function of our roller shades from, but warn not to purchase cheaper versions from the likes of KMart or Target. The quality is very evident in day to day use, so we're planning to replace our purchase mishap with some new roller shades when we can splurge a little.
