Fans of Marie Kondo and her KonMari method (including/most of all us, of course) will be excited to hear that the tidying master has a new book coming out in spring 2020. Called Joy at Work, it will focus on “organizing your professional life,” according to the book cover, which Kondo revealed on Instagram earlier this month.

This will be Kondo’s fourth book for adults released in English, joining The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Spark Joy: An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up, and The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up. (That last one, as its name suggests, is a manga version of Kondo’s tidying philosophy, and as a fictional case-study, it’s a surprisingly helpful and not-redundant complement to her other books — can you tell we’re huge fans?)

Kondo is also releasing a children’s picture book on November 4 called Kiki & Jax: The Life-Changing Magic of Friendship. It introduces the KonMari tidying method to children through a squirrel and an owl. When it comes to tidying, there’s nothing wrong with some friendly brainwashing featuring illustrated woodland creatures.

Joy at Work, scheduled for release on April 7, 2020, is cowritten by Scott Sonenshein, a business professor at Rice University. Based on the synopsis available on Amazon, it appears the book will cover physical and electronic clutter, as well as mental wellbeing and productivity. Read a highlight from the synopsis below:

The workplace is a magnet for clutter and mess. Who hasn’t felt drained by wasteful meetings, disorganized papers, endless emails, and unnecessary tasks? These are the modern-day hazards of working, and they can slowly drain the joy from work, limit our chances of career progress, and undermine our well-being.

There is another way…

Using the world-renowned KonMari Method and cutting-edge research, Joy at Work will help you overcome the challenges of workplace mess and enjoy the productivity, success, and happiness that comes with a tidy desk and mind.

Our desks and minds are ready for more KonMari wisdom.
