After the coronavirus pandemic halted production on most movies and TV shows for the better part of 2020, several of the most anticipated releases were left waiting in the wings. At long last, Amazon’s hit “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has resumed filming for its fourth season, which means it’s only a matter of time before we get to travel back to Manhattan in the ‘50s and ‘60s for more adventures with Midge, Susie, and the gang.

Deadline reports that the show has begun production on Season 4 in New York City in accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols. The entire regular series cast is returning, but it seems they’ll be relying on fewer extras than past seasons, instead using digital magic to enhance the many scenes in which crowds are needed.

Last September, the show’s star, Rachel Brosnahan, shared a masked Instagram selfie with some of the costuming crew, sharing that they were “slowly and safely getting back to it.” In full Midge gear, she captioned her post, “Mask game strong. Hat game stronger. We’re slowly and safely getting back to it but first costume fitting is in the books 🎉 Damn, it feels good to be (almost) back.”

Today, Brosnahan ushered in the start of Season 4, sharing an Instagram photo of herself in a safety bubble on set. She wrote, “It looks a little different this year…but we’re back! Working away on @maiseltv Season 4.”

No word yet on when the fourth season will begin streaming, though it was slated to premiere this January before the pandemic delayed its late spring/early summer production schedule. It’s sure to be worth the wait to step back into Midge’s funny and fashionable world, so stay tuned for more info.
