It’s hard to get excited about a cutting board. Or so I thought. Until I saw the reBoard from Material, a new-ish direct-to-consumer kitchenware company that also makes knives, utensils, and the most gorgeous-slash-functional wooden crock you’ve ever seen.

For starters, the reBoard comes in four surprising colors—Sand, Coral, Tide, and Deep. Made from only recycled plastic (collected scraps created by kitchenware manufacturing!) and renewable sugarcane, it’s also super eco-friendly. (The company pulverizes that collected plastic into smaller chips to create a new material and then adds the sugarcane for extra strength before compressing the mixture into its new form.) The final product retails for a very reasonable-when-you-think-about-it $35.

The board hit the internet on July 23, and was sold out just three days later. Sadly, I didn’t get my order placed in time (I spent too much time hemming and hawing over which color to get!). But Kitchn’s Managing Editor, Lauren Kodiak, was lucky enough to get one. And she is obsessed.

“I was so excited to try out this cutting board that I brought it with me to Maine on vacation,” she told me from a cozy cabin. “I’ve been using it daily for the last two weeks, chopping everything from onions to cooked lobster. It never slides across the counter while I’m chopping, like some of my other cutting boards do (which is super dangerous!). My favorite part? It can go in the dishwasher! I’ve run it in the dishwasher every night and it comes out perfectly clean — no stains, no lingering smells (remember the lobster!). It’s holding up incredibly well to the wear and tear I’ve put it through already.”

Whatever, bragger.

I’d be super bitter but the reBoard is back in stock. AS OF TODAY! There are no guarantees how long it’ll stay in stock this time, so I’m just going to pick a color. Tide! No … Deep! Um … Sand?
