First furniture child is bigger than me. Last week I flew to Chicago to see, for the first time in person, the new Maxwell sofa, which I designed in collaboration with Rob Royer and Marta Calle of Interior Define, a brand new furniture company out of Chicago. It’s only the first of a five part collection that’s going to unroll over the next six months. This is my second foray into making things after many many years, and it continues to be a super exciting journey to fill areas of need that I’ve seen across the landscape over the years.

The sofa collection officially launches next week, Friday, May 20, but I can’t resist showing you some early photo teasers from my visit last week. But I will wait to tell you the whole story next week.

I have been super impressed by the whole process so far, and especially in how EXACTLY they were able to make the sofa I imagined and drew, as well as how much more comfortable it was when I finally had a chance to sit down in it.
