We really liked the Arc Mouse from Microsoft, and now it looks like Microsoft is going to be arching a keyboard as well. It does look swell!
During the incredible hullabaloo of CES, it's sometimes easy to overlook some great new ideas. We thought that the Arc Mouse was really good. It was a beautiful piece of industrial design and now Microsoft is doing the same to their keyboards.
This keyboard is a fairly standard wireless Bluetooth affair. It's meant for travel and for the home, just like the Arc Mouse. However, things go wobbly when you look at the keyboard from the side. It's all warped, and that's what makes it stand out. We think that this warping is actually better suited than some ergonomic designs.
"The design tenets that we looked to for the Arc Keyboard were simplicity and crisp softness, creating an aesthetic for this product that is casual and sophisticated at the same time," said Monique Chatterjee, industrial designer for Microsoft Hardware. "We drew our design inspiration directly from the places where we envision this product will be used so it perfectly blends with existing home accessories."
Just like the Arc Mouse, this keyboard looks great and will probably be great to use. For now, the product is just listed at the Microsoft online store, but we're sure that it will be available soon.
