Before and After: This Unique Bathroom Bucks All the Recent Design Trends
For everyone who has ever mourned the loss of a colorful retro toilet or sink in a bathroom renovation, this project is for you. The cream and white fixtures were replaced with far more charming versions, leading the installation team to clarify, “So you want to put this IN?”
Minty vintage perfection! Marley of Bug & Bean—@bugandbeanstitching on Instagram—took this standard and heavily beige bathroom back in time to create a room full of color and retro delights. Marley scored the sink and toilet for free, an especially fantastic deal because they appear to be in perfect shape and have excellent lines. They have mid-century modern appeal and are nicely understated. The nearly-black paint allows the creamy green to shine while adding a modern edge. Similarly, the gold lights and mirror glow against the dark walls; Marley plans to paint the vanity handles to match to complete the look.
The delightful shower curtain features green leaves that coordinate with the fixtures, while also introducing a rainbow of poppy colors. The curtain could obviously be switched out someday if Marley ever desires a more monochromatic background, but it does a great job incorporating the green fixtures into the rest of the room. It also works perfectly with the new tile floor and its hexagonal flowers, creating a subtle and abstract botanical theme. That floor pattern is a classic that adds whimsy to the black-and-white palette that always looks great in bathrooms.
The light is the Cora sconce by Mitzi, the mirror is by Coaster Home Furnishings on Amazon, and Cloud Dream Home on Amazon has a similar shower curtain. Marley painted the walls, stained the vanity, and installed the sconces, and hired professionals to tile the floor and install the sink and toilet.
Thank you, Marley of Bug & Bean!
