Mitsubishi LaserVue: Get Ready For Even Bigger Screens

If your living room is the right size, then you could get yourself one of those 60+-inch flat panel HDTVs. Mitsubishi just announced the prices of their new LaserVue HDTV panels, available in 65" and 73" sizes. Just imagine how huge these tings must be. They might be taller than your kids, but they'd look incredible mounted on your wall. Then again, they might be too heavy for any unsupported wall.

Apparently the Mitsubishi LaserVue TVs use laser beams to display exceptionally rich color. The 65" model is reported to be 10" deep, which is a little thick for today's hyper-thin standards. The 120 Hz sets consumes a fraction of the power of LCDs and plasmas and is 3D-capable. These sets are rear-projection laser models. Two models will be released this fall. The 65" model will set you back a cool $7,000.
