A Couple’s Apartment Blends Styles Beautifully in a Small Shared Space

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My husband, Jordan, and I—and our dog, Winslow—live in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex in the Lower Greenville neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. When we first got married nearly three years ago, we experienced a clash-turned-fusion of home decor styles.
I was rustic glam/modern farmhouse, and he was—well anything he could find on Craigslist or from his parents’ basement. Soon, we curated our style together. We found as a couple, we appreciated texture, curved lines, and art that spoke to our nostalgic nature.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Plant-lady, mid-century cozy eclectic.
What is your favorite room and why? Honestly, it depends on the day. However, I (consistently) love our dining room. It has plants and pieces from our travels and trips to IKEA. I feel calm there. It’s where I feel most at home.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought for the home was a simple canvas print from Target. I hate to be cheesy, but it reminds me of “Stuck With U” by Ariana Grande—the quarantine anthem.
Any advice for creating a home you love? I do believe in the following elements for every room: flowers (fake is fine), a unique piece not from Target (no shade), and a plant (again fake is fine). Other than that, HAVE FUN! YOU have to live there. Decorate it so that you smile while stumbling into the kitchen to make coffee.
