Modern Karibou: A Canadian Eco-Resource

Modern Karibou co-founders Carole and Lise say that they started their store to offer Canadians better access to the latest products appearing in design mags. The store carries a mix of mid-to-high-end modern brands, many of them handmade and/or crafted in Canada. Their site is organized into two main categories that sum up what they do best: “Canadian design” and “eco-friendly design.”

We bookmarked them as a good resource for organic textiles, baby furniture, bedding, and modern accessories. Collections include Ecotots nursery furniture, Gus*Modern sofas, Rajboori quilts, poufs from Zid Zid kids, and a whole bunch of other names you might recognize if you follow the world of contemporary design. Here are some of our picks:

  1. Rajboori Coverlets, $575 – $705 CDN
  2. Centrifuge Transit Mailbox, $150 CDN
  3. Area Bruno Bed, 3,955 and up CDN
  4. Manor Throw Pillow, $85 CDN
  5. Duc Duc Three-Drawer Dresser, starting at $1,380 CDN

Modern Karibou products are available through their site, and they offer free shipping in Canada on orders over $100.
