If you've ever tried to carve a nursery out of an office or odd nook in your home, then you've run into the inevitable problem of how to jury-rig hanging storage in a closetless space. Most freestanding armoires are too oppressively huge for small spaces. Enter Modrobe by designer Matthias Ries.

Previewing at the upcoming Milan Design Week, Modrobe is a freestanding modular wardobe system that is as light and airy as you could hope for. The system is comprised of variously sized containers that can be combined with different leg sizes and colors.

Modrobe isn't yet in production, so consider this a taste of DIY inspiration. If you have a serious hankering after the original, though, you can contact Ries directly and ask to be put on a mailing list to find out when Modrobe is available to buy.
