Moody & Dramatic Home Theater Lighting
Not only do we love watching dramas and thrillers on our little big screen at home, but adding drama to the home theater decor is a fun side hobby as well. An easy fix? Try throwing up a dark media wall backdrop and lace the ceiling with some extra moody overhead lighting.
Much like Gregory’s Black Hole Home Office, the contrast of bright lights against a dark palette is a stylistic investment that stems away from much of the bright and cheery palettes we usually see in Scandinavian and contemporary designs.
However, when done right, a new level of sophistication can be achieved – and even more so if you play around with the way you approach the darker tones. Using putty, embossed patterns, and chalk paint, all of these can create a bold and mature layer of texture to your home without feeling like a cheap “hotel” overhaul.
When paired with white furniture or glossy technology pieces, the stark lighting and contrast really achieve the level of drama only Unplggd’ers will appreciate.
