Williamsburg is getting a new movie theater! Marco Ursino, who organizes the Brooklyn International Film Festival, realized the neighborhood could benefit from a place to show the indie features he sifts through all year long. Like other new additions to the area, indieScreen has a swanky new music venue, bar, and restaurant in addition to its main space.
Situated on Kent Avenue at South 2nd Street, near the Domino Sugar factory, indieScreen incorporates the industrial vibe of the neighborhood with dark walls, lots of stainless steel finishes, and a pop of quirky handmade lighting. The theater isn't operating under its normal schedule just yet, but Ursino plans to show independent films of his choosing, with the occasional fun late-night event.
