MUJI Is Now Selling Those Prefab Tiny Homes
Do you like your tiny homes with a minimalist flair? Well, good news: MUJI is finally selling those prefab “huts” that the first debuted back in 2015.
The first of three MUJI Huts to be available for purchase, the nine square meter space is compact and bright, with sliding glass doors that make up nearly an entire wall and allow easy flow out onto the covered porch. The blackened cedar structure was first presented at the 2015 Design Touch event in Tokyo, along with the two other models.
“Who hasn’t dreamt of living somewhere they really want to be?,” MUJI’s site posits. “The tools to make that dream a reality are now available. It’s not as dramatic as owning a house or a vacation home, but it’s not as basic as going on a trip. Put it in the mountains, near the ocean, or in a garden, and it immediately blends in with the surroundings, inviting you to a whole new life.”
The prefab hut is available in Japan for 3 million yen (or about $26,000), though no word on when it’ll be available elsewhere in the world.
