My Favorites in the Show

BKLYN Designs 2010 featured a small but select gathering of locally-made furniture. Inlaid wood pieces, industrial plants, and a table with a secret hiding place were among my favorites.

Images 1 - 3. Palo Samko's wood table has an inlaid clock and metal parts. I also adored his sculpture "Ark/Whatever I Could Steal From My Kids" - an intricate silver piece that looks like a Noah's Ark from the future.

Images 4-6. I loved the slanted metal planters and one-of-a-kind "crank table" by RAM Metals. Designer Randy Rollner meticulously designs each piece and welded the cranks in the table.

Image 7. Furniture with a secret compartment is always a favorite and The Northstar Table by Colleen & Eric has a stealthy one. The top of the table is inlaid with brass stars and if you press the North star a drawer slides open. Made from walnut veneer and solid walnut; finished with water based stain and Linseed Oil.

Image 8. Annie also loved Eskayel's beautiful wallpaper designs. Shanan Campanaro pulled the designs from her watercolor paintings and reorganized the sections to make original wallpaper. Polar bears and other animal forms are hidden in some of the designs. More of Eskayel on Apartment Therapy.
