My Front Porch Memories

My Front Porch Memories

Growing up, the two homes in which I was raised both had fabulous front porches. They were a place to escape to and read a book, wait nervously for a date to arrive or just watch a thunderstorm or the night sky roll in. Now that I think about it, I have just as many memories of time spent on the porch as I do in the rest of the house. Do you have fond front porch memories as well?

A front porch is a great addition to your home in the sense that expands your living space and although some homeowners don't have time to utilize the space as such, we know many do. In our home it was a place to play guitar, whittle wood, watch the squirrels attempt to sneak a snack from the bird feeder and spy on our neighborhood. There were craft projects, science projects and that one time we stepped on a spider and thousands of babies went flying everywhere. Talk about screaming like a girl — that was the moment.

In recent years, we haven't had the chance to own a front porch, though we miss it dearly, each one has its own shape, feel and view of life as you sit watching out over the world. What are your front porch memories? Share in the comments below!
