Emily's an optimist and saw the silver lining in a birthday around the holidays. She tells us about Juniper Lucy's first birthday party: One good thing about having a December birthday in Arizona: You get a lovely outdoor party!

I wanted my daughter's first birthday party to be extra special. I was inspired by a combination of ice blue, cotton candy pink, winter snow, and what I think Queen Frostine would have at her party. And with the help of my extremely talented and creative mother-in-law we had a practically perfect (and for a good price since we did it all ourselves!) party.

We kept the goodies simple and cheap by keeping everything homemade; Chocolate cake, candy, Popcorn, hot chocolate and mulled cider. And using what we already had; Christmas ornaments, pennant flags, tents, scrapbook paper and craft supplies. First time I have thrown this big and dramatic of a shindig and I had a great time doing it!

Thanks Emily! Readers, see more details of this beautiful party on The Juniper Berry.

We love a good party! If you'd like to share the good ideas and photos from your child's celebration with the Ohdeedoh community please submit through the "My Party" submission form.
