Bethany has passed on a lifelong affinity for PEZ to her daughter and they could both celebrate it at her fabulously fun themed birthday party. Bethany fills us in: I have been collecting PEZ since I was a kid. Most of the time the collection lives in a Rubbermaid in the garage. My daughter Lily has recently taken an interest in it, asking to play with it, organize it, color coordinate it, etc. I found some princess PEZ dispensers at a discount store and instantly knew they would be perfect in goody bags for a party.
Lily was super into the idea and so it was decided that for her 6th birthday she would have a PEZ party! My husband created the invitation which featured Lily's face on an Ariel dispenser. He also found a PEZ font to use for some of the words. We used some of my collection to decorate the house putting dispensers on the mantel, hanging on strings above the windows, lining the window sills, one even made it inside the fish tank.
For games we played "Pass the PEZ" with my large Snoopy dispenser that plays music. When the music stopped the child holding the dispenser had to put on an item from the dress up bag. Our outfits were pretty fabulous by time the game was over. We also played "Pin the Head on the PEZ" and had a crazy session of freeze dance! Instead of cake Lily decided on ice cream sundaes which the kids could assemble themselves. The creations these kids came up with were quite spectacular. Goody bags included two PEZ dispensers, extra candy, a PEZ magnet, PEZ pin, stickers, and a bookmark that I made.
It was a fabulous party and a super fun way to show off my collection. I think I even inspired some future collectors!
Thanks Bethany! (See more photos here.)
