My Party: Sean

My Party: Sean

I can think of several kids who would love a dinosaur party and several parents who would love these "simple and cheap" ideas. Amy shares: Dinosaurs started marching around in my head months ago when Sean announced he wanted a dinosaur birthday party. And there they stayed until after Christmas because my brain cannot hold all that much party planning. The one thing I did figure out before Christmas was I didn't really like the few dinosaur party themes already out there. So I challenged myself to come up with my own dinosaur theme. Simple and cheap. My new motto.

Most everything was DIY with supplies already on hand, so it fit our budget nicely. The dino cake recipe was found on Betty Crocker, recycled DIY party hats inspired by Michele at Cakewalk, centerpieces made from jumbo play dinosaurs from Learning Resources (a Santa present), and the ever-loved pennant banners made right here at home.

We also had fun coming up with games and activities for the kids like a dinosaur dig with mini dinosaurs buried in pinto beans. A dinosaur egg hunt using old easter eggs. Oh, and dinosaur feet made from green craft foam. They were a hit!

Our favorite thing about his party was a custom T-shirt made by his Uncle Mikey with the word birthday boy shaped like a dinosaur. Cool, huh? Now that's something we'll treasure!
