My Room: Amelia

My Room: Amelia

We love the use of navy instead of black here for a less glam, more welcoming vibe. Autumn describes her plan of attack for designing this lovely room: This is a pink and navy nursery for a baby girl that I designed for a friend of mine. She already had the pink and white gingham chair and requested that the room be designed around it.

The walls are painted a soft pink (Yours Truly by Benjamin Moore), but bold patterns in several shades of blue keep the pink form becoming too sweet. The light fixture and rug we purchased at an online discount clearance center and nearly all of the accessories were purchased at thrift stores , TJ Maxx or Ikea. Fun blue and white ceramic knobs were purchased on clearance from Anthropologie accent the closet doors and the changing table.

Amelia was born on Valentine's day, and so I used vintage Valentine's postcards to give her birthday some extra emphasis. I really tried to tie the entire family into the space and create a sense of history for this new little person. For instance, the fabric silhouettes are of the baby's four siblings, and each bird in the bird "mobile" represents a member of the family.

Thanks Autumn!
