My Room: Baby Carlson

Melissa wanted a fresh, modern room for her daughter and she got it! She shares how it came together: We’re having a girl in October and as soon as I found out I started collecting inspiration images. I knew I wanted to go simple and modern with pops of color to help warm things up a bit.

We painted the walls a pale gray and the ceiling a light pink. We were on a bit of a budget so most of the furniture is either used or from Ikea… except the chair – we splurged there because we knew we could use the chair long after the baby grows up. It’s actually a glider and a recliner, and the husband has been wanting a recliner forever now so this was a good solution. The mobile was a DIY project that I did following the instructions from Spool Sewing. I chose five different solid color felts and mixed up combinations of them for the nine birds.
