Mila has quite a view - both inside and outside her pretty room. Her mom Kate shares: Our little family is Australian but Mila was born here in Shanghai and before that my husband and I lived in Tokyo. I wanted to make sure Mila's room was girly (but didn't want to overdose on pink), could grow with her into childhood and also included pieces of our time spent in Asia. I love the way her room has evolved into a sweet toddler space filled with loads of personal touches.
The kokeshi (Japanese dolls) were collected during our time in Japan, and one of them is actually a scroll doll that our wedding guests signed. I hand-made the origami butterflies on the wall from Japanese chiyogami paper, and I also designed the personalised artwork on her shelves because I couldn't find anything quite right.
I've had some things custom-made here in China, like the antique style trunk and the solid elm bookshelves. I found the panda Grobag on Ebay. The prints on the little gallery wall, the paper poms and the pillows on the bed are all from Etsy. I found the rug only recently - it's hand-knotted from Nepal - and it really finishes the room off in a soft feminine way.
Mila's room is now my favourite room in our apartment and I love spending time there just hanging out with my big girl.
Lovely - thanks Kate!
