My Room: Ruby

My Room: Ruby

Michelle gives us a peek into Ruby's charming nursery as well as a peek at how she pulled it all together using budget sources and diy: I wanted Ruby to have a room that was eclectic, bright and happy- a modern space with a little vintage touch- a place where any bright colored toy would look like it belonged. I also needed to do it on a budget.

I started with the crib, changer and dresser that I found (suprisingly) at The vintage secretary was my great grandmother's that I had refinished to match the other furniture. I was also suprised to find that the Poang chair from Ikea had the perfect little bounce and was amazingly comfortable and so affordable. Most everything I found through hours of online browsing at CB2, Ikea, Chiasso, Target, the rug from Overstock and some accessories from Amazon.

There were so many things I wanted but blew the budget so it really took patience to find cost effective alternatives. I sewed the curtains from a great Ikea fabric and hand painted the animal artwork from my own design. The images in the blue and magenta frames were designed by my sister for my baby shower.

It is a good thing a baby cooks for nine months, the process took a long time and in the end it all came together. There were a few times along the way when not everything was in the room and it felt like there were some "misses". Once everything was finally in place though it really gave the cheerful impression I had intended. I am so excited to bring home the final piece to complete the room, little Ruby...

Thanks Michelle! We're sure Ruby will feel right at home!
