My Space: The Collapsible Cardboard Box Playhouse

My Space: The Collapsible Cardboard Box Playhouse

There isn't a child on this planet that can't entertain themselves for hours with a simple cardboard box. There's only one problem and that's our need to regain square footage in our living rooms at some point in time. Though a discarded box is a blast, they just take up too much space — but not any more!

This foldable cardboard contraption is called "My Space" (which is pretty much the only My Space we are letting our kids near anytime soon) and is a fun combination of floors, walls, shelving and more that can be used in any combination.

We love the idea that this generously sized station folds nicely to store under a bed, in a closet, or even next to a bookcase. Designed by Liya Mairson, this product sadly isn't available in stores though we're pretty sure you crafty and creative types can figure out how to make one on your own. Make sure to hit up your local appliance dealers for over sized boxes on the cheap (or free), we suggest using carpet tape to hold the pieces together (glue would warp the cardboard), which can be found at your local hardware store for around $10.

It looks like a great way to spend a rainy afternoon indoors or escape from the summer heat during those insufferable mid day hours!
